From here it's a 4 hour beam reach across open Caribbean Seas to the protection of the lush island of Dominica. We sail up the leeward side past the capital Roseau and on to the great anchorage at Portsmouth. Here you can explore the river where some great scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed. From Dominica it's less than 20 miles to the French archipelago of Les Saintes - one of our very favourite spots in the Caribbean. (below)

Next stop Guadeloupe at the pretty town of Deshaies where the series "Death in Paradise" is filmed. Our final passage of this cruise is 38 miles (6 hours) beam reaching across to Antigua arriving at Falmouth Harbour.

Caribbean Classic Sailing

Warm breezes from the east-north-east make for great sailing in the winter, often blowing at 15-20 knots this time of year.

Passage practice

This leg offers the opportunity to make a couple of open ocean passages as we cross between islands. There will be proper Caribbean winds 12-20 knots from the east. As always we encourage everyone who wants to participate in passage planning. Who wants to try out celestial navigation?
